It was announced on Friday that the acclaimed series Welcome To Wrexham will continue for an additional three seasons.

The show spotlights Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as they oversee the operations of the north Welsh football club, affectionately known as the Red Dragons.

This announcement marks the program’s first multi-season renewal, extending its run until 2029 and bringing the total episodes to eight.

To share the news, Reynolds posted on Instagram to his 50 million followers, stating: “The incredible season five of Welcome To Wrexham premieres on May 14, and we’ve been renewed for three more seasons!”

He added, “Kudos to our Emmy-winning documentary team, the town, and Wrexham AFC for continually creating such dramatic and intense moments. Great for TV, tough on blood pressure.”

The FX series, which showcases the actors’ journey in taking over the club, debuted in 2022 and has since won 10 Emmy Awards and two Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

Reynolds and McElhenney acquired Wrexham for £2 million in February 2021, successfully guiding the team from the National League (the fifth tier of English football) to the Championship, just below the Premier League.

Currently, the team sits just below the playoff positions; securing a spot in the top six would allow them to vie for promotion to the Premier League at the season’s conclusion.

Last year, Wrexham’s manager, Phil Parkinson, remarked that Reynolds and McElhenney’s involvement has significantly uplifted the atmosphere at the club.
