Colin Kazim-Richards, a former player in Arsenal’s academy, made his debut as Crawley Town’s head coach over the weekend after transitioning from his youth coaching role at Arsenal.
There was an additional Arsenal connection during the match, as Gunners loanee Louie Copley returned from injury to participate in the starting lineup against Gillingham.
After missing the last seven matches and being sidelined for ten games following his January transfer, Copley made a notable comeback, playing 74 minutes in Saturday’s fixture.

Crawley secured a 2-0 win, which was crucial in their fight against relegation.
However, it was also a good day for other teams struggling in the division, as Newport County and Barrow, currently in 22nd and 23rd place, both claimed victories.
While Crawley didn’t manage to increase their narrow margin over the teams at risk of relegation, the win was essential to avoid slipping into the bottom two.
In other news, Harrogate Town lost to Notts County, allowing Crawley to maintain a four-point lead over the bottom club in the league.

The upcoming match against Newport County on Friday is now crucial; the winner will finish the day outside the relegation zone, while a draw would keep Crawley safe.
Copley aims to secure another start and build on his momentum as the league campaign heads into its final six matches.
