Hansi Flick praised Barcelona, stating they “deserved to be in the semi-final” after their exit from the Champions League at the hands of Atlético Madrid. The Blaugrana entered the match needing a significant turnaround after losing 2-0 in the first leg.

In the fifth minute, Lamine Yamal gave them hope by scoring a goal that slipped past goalkeeper Juan Musso.
By the middle of the first half, the tie was level when Ferran Torres scored with a brilliant left-foot shot into the top corner.
However, Atlético quickly regained their aggregate advantage around the half-hour mark when Ademola Lookman found the net after a superb assist from Marcos Llorente, putting them ahead again.
Torres thought he had scored again for Barça early in the second half, but his goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR review.
The match turned further when Eric Garcia was sent off for a foul on Alexander Sorloth.

Despite Barcelona’s relentless pursuit of an equalizer, they were unable to overcome their opponents, with their La Liga rivals ultimately securing a 3-2 aggregate victory.
Flick expressed: “I’m incredibly proud of the team’s performance and the style we exhibited. Over the two legs, we earned our spot in the semi-finals.”
Barcelona put in a commendable effort in Madrid but ultimately fell short after their previous two-goal deficit.
The Blaugrana have not reached the Champions League final since 2015, when they triumphed over Juventus to become European champions.
Last season, Barcelona secured the La Liga title and are on track to defend their championship this season.
They currently hold a nine-point lead at the top of the table with seven matches left to play.
However, their quest for success in European competitions remains unfulfilled.
