Healy: Linfield Enduring a…

Linfield manager David Healy expressed his deep disappointment following his team’s third consecutive defeat, as they fell 3-1 to Coleraine at Ballycastle Road Showgrounds.

Former Linfield forward Joel Cooper opened the scoring right after halftime, with substitute Jamie McGonigle doubling the lead for Coleraine.

Although Chris McKee managed to convert a penalty for Linfield in stoppage time, Will Patching sealed the victory for the home team with a third goal just before the final whistle.

“We are currently in a challenging situation,” Healy told BBC Sport NI. “I understand the fans’ frustration. I feel the same pain, as I am a supporter of this club and want better results for us.”

“I shared with the players that, whether people want to hear it or not, sometimes you must endure some heartache and suffering to reach your goals, and in the end, it feels more rewarding.”

Linfield now sits in fifth place in the Premiership, 14 points behind leaders Larne and 10 points behind Coleraine in second.

Despite this challenging stretch, which marks the first time in eight years that Linfield has lost three consecutive league matches, Healy stated they won’t rush into signing new players in January “for the sake of it.”

“We’ll likely explore in-house options and see who can return, then evaluate our needs in January. We’re not looking to make moves just to make them,” he explained. “If an opportunity arises that could strengthen our squad, we’ll consider what can be done.”
