Linfield manager David Healy expressed that his team “accelerated their performance” to clinch a late 3-1 victory against Carrick Rangers at Windsor Park.
Following Aidan Steele’s equalizer to negate Chris McKee’s initial goal, two strikes from substitute Matthew Yates secured the win for Linfield.

Although Healy admitted to feeling “slightly disappointed” with his team’s overall display, he was pleased they ultimately managed to secure the win.
“They came to make it tough for us, which we anticipated, and they frustrated us for significant stretches of the match,” Healy told BBC Sport NI.
“When they equalized, it didn’t come as a shock; you could feel it was on the horizon. However, we made necessary changes, and in the end, I think we just about earned the victory. We faced challenges, but we shifted into a higher gear after it went 1-1 and managed to score two vital goals.”
“The months of November, December, and January are crucial, with numerous important matches against our main rivals, so it’s essential to secure wins in the other games.”

Healy also commended Yates’ contribution from the bench, highlighting how the 23-year-old is adjusting to the Irish Premiership after his summer transfer from Scotland.
“I was delighted for Yatsey; having attacking options is vital, and he has participated in several cup matches and come off the bench,” Healy remarked.
“His first goal was significant, as it provided us with a foundation to win. He demonstrated a sharp finishing touch with the second one.”
