Hervé Renard Appointed as…

Hervé Renard has been appointed as the manager of the Tunisia national team following the decision by the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) to terminate Sabri Lamouchi’s contract after just one match in the 2026 World Cup. This move comes on the heels of Tunisia’s heavy 5-1 loss to Sweden in their opening game, marking their third consecutive defeat and resulting in 11 goals conceded over that span. The FTF has officially confirmed this change.

At 57 years old, Renard is seen as Tunisia’s last hope for advancing to the knockout stage of the World Cup. Previously the head coach of the France Women’s national team, he was a free agent after being relieved of his duties with Saudi Arabia just a few months prior to the tournament. Renard has signed a temporary contract with the FTF, which will last for the duration of Tunisia’s participation in the World Cup. Following the tournament, discussions regarding a potential long-term arrangement will be initiated.

Tunisia’s upcoming matches include a game against Japan on Sunday, June 21, at Estadio Monterrey in Mexico, at 6 am (CEST), followed by a crucial group stage match against the Netherlands on Friday, June 26, at 1 am (CEST) at Kansas City Stadium.
