Cambridge United midfielder George Hoddle has secured a new contract that will keep him with the club until the conclusion of the 2027-28 season.

At 20 years old, Hoddle is related to former England manager Glenn Hoddle and has made 12 appearances this season. This includes a loan period with non-league side Bedford Town.

Manager Neil Harris praised Hoddle, stating, “Since joining the team, Hodds has displayed remarkable composure and showcased exceptional qualities that have contributed to our success in a short span.” He added, “He possesses outstanding attributes that align with my vision for the team’s development, and we see significant potential for growth as he matures into a senior player at our club.”

Cambridge’s recent 2-0 victory over Accrington Stanley marked their 11th consecutive unbeaten match across all competitions, placing them eighth in League Two, just one point shy of the playoff spots.

Hoddle has started the last two league matches and commented, “It’s been a solid season for both myself and the team thus far, and the past few weeks have been the result of my hard work.”
