Hull City has secured the signing of Paddy McNair, a former defender for Manchester United, Sunderland, and Middlesbrough, from MLS side San Diego FC on an 18-month deal.
The 30-year-old defender progressed through Manchester United’s youth academy, making 27 appearances for the senior team before transferring to Sunderland in 2016, followed by a stint at Middlesbrough.
During his time with Boro, McNair made 219 appearances across all competitions. He joined San Diego in 2024, where he had a short loan period with West Bromwich Albion before participating in 22 MLS matches last season.
“I’m excited to be here. This move has been in the works for a couple of weeks, so I’m thrilled to finally make it official,” said the Northern Ireland international. “Having played in the Championship for several seasons, the one thing that’s eluded me is promotion. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a prominent club that’s performing well in the league. I hope we can build on this momentum as the season progresses and achieve that goal.”
