I Cant Wrap My Head…

According to Luke Edwards from The Telegraph, Marco Silva’s decision to significantly rotate his Fulham team for the FA Cup fifth round defeat against Championship side Southampton at Craven Cottage “doesn’t make any sense.”

The Cottagers made nine changes from the lineup that lost to West Ham in the Premier League earlier in the week, but this led to another missed opportunity for silverware after a tense defeat.

“Silva has done a commendable job, but there has been some friction,” Edwards remarked on the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily podcast.

“The discord was apparent during the summer due to a lack of transfer activity.

“They are firmly in mid-table and safe. What puzzles me is the reason behind making so many changes for a home FA Cup match.

“It simply doesn’t add up. You’re secure in the league, playing at home, with a significant opportunity to reach the cup quarter-finals, and just one game away from a semi-final at Wembley.

“Such opportunities are rare for Fulham and should be exciting to pursue.

“By heavily rotating his squad and ultimately losing to a Championship team at home, I will never comprehend that decision.

“The fans booed them off the pitch, and rightly so.”
