Ibrahima Konaté is nearing the end of his contract with Liverpool, which currently has no extension in sight, amid speculation linking him to PSG.

This situation leaves Liverpool with a critical choice: they can opt to sell him during the January transfer window, push for a contract extension, or accept that he may depart on a free transfer.

Foot Mercato has previously reported that various top European clubs, including PSG, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are monitoring his situation. Liverpool opted to retain Konaté last summer instead of considering offers for him.

A recent report from The Athletic indicated that Real Madrid’s interest in Konaté has waned in recent months, citing his inconsistent performances as a factor. However, with his contract situation unresolved, could Liverpool consider incoming offers?

With the potential departure of Konaté, transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri has indicated that Liverpool is considering Jérémy Jacquet as a possible replacement for the underperforming defender.

Arsenal had shown interest in Jacquet during the last summer transfer window but ultimately decided against pursuing him, opting instead for signings like Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié.

Additionally, Football Insider reports that Liverpool has set Konaté’s asking price at around £15 million, signaling their openness to offers for the defender who could depart after this season.

Despite the diminishing interest from Real Madrid, former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes Konaté might still attract attention from Bayern Munich and PSG.

“Konaté is certainly an interesting case,” Wyness stated to Football Insider. “His recent dip in form may relate to having his head turned, possibly focusing on a move to Real Madrid.

“This performance drop has been noticeable, and I’ve heard concerns from many Liverpool fans about his below-par play. If the contract situation can be resolved, he has the potential to return to form.”

“He has previously shown great ability, but I wouldn’t rule out Bayern or PSG being interested as well.”
