Jens Berthel Askou has shared that he has had conversations with Elliot Watt regarding reports suggesting that Rangers are interested in the talented midfielder. The manager of Motherwell expressed that he remains calm about any potential offers for the 25-year-old, who hails from Preston.

Watt, a former Scotland youth international, netted his fifth goal of the season during Saturday’s 2-0 victory over St Mirren, continuing to impress following his transfer from Burton Albion last summer.

“I’ve had numerous discussions with Elliot on a variety of topics, and this is one of them,” Askou stated. “I believe he’s thriving amidst the attention. He’s still the same person and is relishing his time as a footballer. He deserves a lot of credit for his performance alongside many others.”

He added, “Naturally, when you perform well consistently, you’ll attract interest from various clubs. It’s something we have to accept and manage positively as we continue to push forward.”

Askou does not anticipate a significant influx of new players at Fir Park this month. “No, it’s not as if there’s a line of players waiting to join,” he remarked. “However, we are working on a few things behind the scenes. This transfer window won’t see a massive recruitment drive, especially with January being quite a chilly month. We’ll look to see if we can bring in one or two players if the opportunity arises.”
