Today, the England women’s football team will face Ghana in their last friendly match of the year. The Lionesses are buoyed by an impressive 8-0 victory over China last week.
In that match, Georgia Stanway netted a hat-trick, while Lauren Hemp, Ella Toone, Beth Mead, and Alessia Russo also scored, delighting fans at Wembley Stadium.
Although manager Sarina Wiegman had previously indicated a desire to experiment with the lineup, she relied on seasoned players in the match against China. The upcoming friendly may present an opportunity for her to introduce new talent.
This match will mark the first meeting between Wiegman’s team and Ghana, who have remained unbeaten in their last seven games since their defeat to South Africa in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations earlier this summer.
Here’s everything you need to know.

Team News
Liverpool captain Grace Fisk has withdrawn from the squad due to a calf injury sustained during training. This was her first call-up, and she remained an unused substitute in the match against China.
Fisk’s absence further strains England’s defensive options, alongside the sidelined Leah Williamson, Alex Greenwood, and young Arsenal talent Katie Reid. Jess Carter from Gotham FC will also be rested after the NWSL Championship victory.
Anna Moorhouse debuted as goalkeeper against China, filling in for injured first-choice keeper Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating.
Should Wiegman opt for a more experimental approach, Anouk Denton and Freya Godfrey from London City Lionesses—both called up to the senior side for the first time—could also see their debut.
Predicted England Line-up
England XI: Moorhouse, Bronze, Le Tissier, Morgan, Charles, Walsh, Stanway, Mead, Toone, Hemp, Russo
