When a player transfers from a rival club, it’s not uncommon for fans to react with mixed feelings.

This was the case in the summer, when Noni Madueke was about to finalize a move from Chelsea to Arsenal for £50 million.

At that time, a petition against his transfer garnered over 5,000 signatures, the hashtag #NoToMadueke trended on X, and murals outside Emirates Stadium were defaced with slogans like ‘Arteta out.’

We also gathered opinions from supporters on our Arsenal page, with comments ranging from “a significant amount for a bench player” to “another Chelsea signing, and past transfers haven’t worked out well.”

However, nearly five months later, after making a successful return from injury and scoring against Bayern Munich and Club Brugge in the Champions League, could views on the winger’s transfer be shifting?

Following Madueke’s impressive performance with a double on Tuesday night in Belgium, BBC Radio 5 Live commentator Conor McNamara noted: “All three of his goals for the club have come in the Champions League. He’s providing healthy competition for Bukayo Saka on the right wing of Arsenal’s attack. Madueke faced unfortunate injury setbacks early on, missing two months, but I believe signing him was a smart move for the club this summer.”

So, what do you think about the former Chelsea player now?

Is he proving the doubters wrong? Will Madueke’s transfer ultimately be a successful one?
