Valerien Ismael, head coach of Blackburn, expressed his “deep frustration” with one of his players following the 2-1 loss against Portsmouth.
In an interview with BBC Radio Lancashire, Ismael stated: “When you come to a place like this, it’s essential to be resilient. We managed the first half well and created some promising opportunities, and I’m thrilled for Yuki [Ohashi] for getting on the scoresheet.”

“We began the second half positively for about ten minutes, but then we conceded again due to the same error.”
“Just two weeks ago, we reviewed video footage with the team, highlighting specific areas, and emphasized the importance of sprinting back to defend.”
“That goal had a significant impact on our performance; it was clear that the players were preoccupied with it.”
“Mistakes are part of football, but this is the second or even third time we’ve seen the same issue with that player, and it’s very frustrating for us.”
“It comes down to discipline, concentration, and the fundamentals of the game. We need to defend and attack as a cohesive unit.”
