James aims to forge…

Leeds winger Dan James has expressed his frustration over a challenging season, but he remains optimistic about the future, particularly regarding potential European competition for Leeds, following a successful campaign that secured their Premier League status.

This season, James was recognized by Leeds fans as the club’s player of the year for 2024-25, contributing to their Championship title success with 12 goals in 36 appearances.

However, the 28-year-old has faced several injury setbacks this season, including issues with his hamstring, ribs, and ankle.

“I’ve dealt with a number of injuries at critical moments of the season,” James told BBC Radio Leeds. “When I’ve been fit, the team has been performing well, which limited my playing time,” he added.

“That’s the reality when you play with talented players. When the chance arises, I’ve got to seize it. I’m feeling great now and just want to finish the season on a high note.”

“At the start of the season, my goal was to give my all for the team, but I had some minor injuries that kept me from being fully fit. The hamstring injury was particularly tough, especially since I was just getting back into the squad when it hit, costing me eight or nine weeks at a crucial time.”

James, who transitioned from Manchester United in 2021, has been a reliable presence on the team since his arrival.

After signing a new long-term contract last summer, which will keep him at the club until 2029, he has ambitious goals for Leeds’ future.

“We have met our objectives for this year, and with two games left, it’s about finishing as strongly as we can,” James stated. “I’ve noticed how well our players have adapted to different formations, and I believe we will leverage our diverse talents more effectively moving forward.”

“I’m eager to progress with this club. In three or four years, I envision us competing in Europe. We’re close; it’s just a matter of fine-tuning a few elements. Looking at other teams that have risen unexpectedly to those levels, I truly believe we can achieve that.”
