Barcelona is strategically preparing for a future without Robert Lewandowski, as the club’s long-term vision starts to take form.
As previously reported, one name has consistently emerged as a standout option: Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

This notion has gained traction following comments from Enric Masip, a member of Barcelona’s sports commission and an esteemed advisor to president Joan Laporta.
Masip discussed both Alvarez’s qualities as a striker and Barcelona’s financial landscape, contemplating the feasibility of such a move in the near future.
What did he say?
Without hesitation, he asserted that “I would say yes, he is a great player, a player with incredible quality, and he is enjoying a fantastic season at Atletico.”

“He is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the world,” he added.
However, admiration alone doesn’t secure player signings at Barcelona, as the Financial Fair Play regulations present a significant challenge.

Barça is currently not bound by the 1/1 rule, meaning any significant transfer necessitates thorough planning, player departures, and adjustments to wages.
Masip is fully aware of these concerns and addressed them head-on when asked if Barcelona could financially manage such a significant move.
He emphasized the club’s internal confidence and the groundwork already laid. Regarding Laporta’s perspective, Masip recalled:

“The president has stated that Barça should always be ready to sign the players it needs to enhance the squad.”
“I have no doubt that will be achievable after the work we have put into the economic plan, especially concerning the balance between young talents and veteran players.”
Rather than displaying doubt, Masip reinforced his optimism.
He went a step further, insisting that “Barça can handle that situation if it arises, and I am confident it will be so.”
