John Stones Set to Depart…

John Stones will be departing Manchester City this summer, as announced by the club.

The 31-year-old defender will leave as a free agent at the season’s end after spending 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.

During his time at City, Stones secured six Premier League titles, along with the Champions League and multiple domestic trophies.

He played a vital role in the team that achieved the treble in 2023, featuring in both the FA Cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

The England international’s contract was not renewed due, in part, to his inconsistent injury history.

Since October, he has not started a Premier League match and has only made 18 league appearances in the ongoing 2024-25 season.

In a video shared on his Instagram account, Stones expressed that Manchester City will always be “his home.”

“It has been a rollercoaster in many ways,” said the former Everton player. “I arrived as a kid and I’m now leaving as a man – as a father, a husband, and a fulfilled player on the pitch.”

“I’ve realized all my dreams and achieved everything I set out to do here.”

“At the beginning of my career here, I could never have imagined reaching this point – achieving everything and forming such a deep bond with everyone. Every dream has far surpassed my expectations.”
