Nathan Jones, the manager of Charlton Athletic, acknowledged that his team performed “poorly” during their 3-1 loss at home to Portsmouth on Tuesday evening.
“We were lacking in several areas,” Jones shared with BBC Radio London. “We had a fantastic chance just a minute in that could have established a different atmosphere for the game.”
“After that, we were physically outmatched between the boxes. I could complain about the goals; one should not have gone past our goalkeeper.”
“The second was a penalty following a handball after it hit his chest first. And then they scored yet another from long-range.”
“We created opportunities from close range and arguably had better chances throughout the match, but we struggled physically between both boxes, which is uncharacteristic for us.”
