Juventus Targets Bayern…

Tuttosport has reported that Juventus is showing interest in signing Raphaël Guerreiro during the upcoming January transfer window. Christian Falk from Sport Bild has also confirmed that the Serie A club has expressed a desire to bring the Bundesliga player on board. A transfer in January seems advantageous for all parties involved.

Guerreiro’s contract with Bayern is set to expire at the end of this season. The 31-year-old has only made four league appearances for the German giants this season, all of which have been as a substitute. Bayern may be inclined to sell Guerreiro, who currently has an estimated market value of €8 million.

Despite his versatility as a left back, defensive midfielder, and even as a No. 10, Bayern’s head coach Vincent Kompany appears to have limited use for the Portuguese international this year. With Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala expected to return from injuries, Guerreiro’s chances of playing time are further diminished.

If Guerreiro does leave the Bundesliga, it will signify the end of a notable chapter in both his career and in German football. Over ten seasons with Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, he has made 209 appearances in the top tier of German football.

Guerreiro joined Dortmund from Ligue 1 team Lorient in the summer of 2016 for only €2.5 million. At the height of his career, he was valued at around €40 million. In the summer of 2023, he made the switch to Bayern as a free agent.

Interestingly, Guerreiro has never played professionally in his home country. If the move to Juventus does not materialize, it’s likely other clubs across Europe will express interest in securing a transfer during the January window.
