Kane: PSG favorites…

Harry Kane acknowledged that Paris Saint-Germain rightfully stands as the favorite against Arsenal in the upcoming Champions League final next month. However, he admitted he might skip watching the match due to the disappointment of his own team, Bayern Munich, being knocked out by Luis Enrique’s side.

PSG secured a 6-5 victory on aggregate against Bayern, even with Kane’s late equalizer resulting in a 1-1 draw in the second leg at the Allianz Arena.

The final will take place in Budapest, Hungary, on May 30, where PSG hopes to become only the second club, alongside Real Madrid, to defend their Champions League title successfully.

As a former striker for Tottenham, Kane expressed his disappointment at missing the chance to face his old North London rivals in the final and is uncertain about watching the match.

“I don’t know; it depends on my circumstances,” Kane told reporters. “Right now, I’m just feeling upset.”

“It’s hard to take at the moment. Over the two matches, we had opportunities that could have changed the outcome, but it just didn’t go our way.

“Some decisions didn’t favor us today, and while we played decent football, the final touch was missing.

“It has been a strong season overall, but in the Champions League, it often comes down to marginal differences. We had aspirations of winning all the trophies; we know we’re capable of that, which makes this hurt even more.”

A few key calls went against Bayern, including a first-half incident where referee João Pinheiro denied their appeals for a penalty after an apparent handball by João Neves.

“Anyone who watched the game would agree with that decision,” Kane opined.

“It’s perplexing how the handball was given last week, but not this week – it’s just unbelievable.

“PSG should have received a clear second yellow card. It seemed the referee changed his mind, possibly influenced by the atmosphere.”

Heading into the final, PSG will be the clear favorites to secure a second consecutive Champions League title against an Arsenal side that is still in pursuit of its first title in the competition.

While Kane acknowledges Arsenal’s potential, he believes PSG holds the edge.

“It’s very even,” he stated. “The teams have different styles, but both are quite strong. This should be an exciting final.

“As PSG are champions, they likely deserve to be viewed as slight favorites, but overall, both teams are top contenders, making it a balanced match.

“We and PSG have a somewhat similar approach, although some other top teams tend to play differently.

“That’s the beauty of football; it can swing in any direction that leads to victory.”
