Knibbs Injury…

Following Charlton Athletic’s 1-0 victory against Sheffield United, manager Nathan Jones spoke to BBC Radio London:

“It was a peculiar match. It doesn’t feel quite like a win in the way it should after defeating Sheffield United at home.”

“A win is a win, though. The atmosphere was unusual; they started incredibly well, and our goalkeeper played a crucial role in keeping us level.”

“Once they went down to 10 men, we gained a bit more control. With nine men, we had even more control, and we made the right substitutions. Tactically, we performed well; we scored and had further chances, although we didn’t quite convert a second. But ultimately, a win is a win.”

On facing nine men: “You need to manage the game wisely. It’s important for people to understand that going all-out attack isn’t the answer. Every time they regain possession, they can counter with some quality players.”

On Harvey Knibbs’ injury: “The injury doesn’t look good. Without jumping to conclusions, we need to wait for the results from scans and X-rays. Let’s see how it plays out.”

On the red cards: “I believe they were justified. I would prefer not to dwell on it. The challenge was poor, which contributed to Knibbs’ injury, and the second one seemed out of control—especially when the head is involved. We thought both red cards were warranted.”
