Laporta to Attend World…

The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, is set to travel to the United States if Spain triumphs over Belgium in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup this Friday and secures a spot in the semi-finals, according to Mundo Deportivo.

If La Roja advances, they will face the winner of the quarter-final match between France and Morocco, which is set to be played today in Boston.

Supporting Barcelona’s international players

Spain’s roster boasts up to eight players from Barcelona. Prominent names include Joan Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, and Ferran Torres, all of whom are included in Luis de la Fuente’s roster.

Given the strong Blaugrana representation in the national team, Laporta aims to be present at the semi-final to support his players as they strive for a spot in the World Cup final.

Spain secured a 1-0 victory against Portugal in the Round of 16, thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time goal from Mikel Merino. They also breezed past Austria in the earlier round.

So far, Eric and Joan Garcia have yet to see any game time in the World Cup, while Gavi has had a mostly limited role.

The other Barça players, however, have made significant contributions, with Dani Olmo especially shining for the 2010 World Cup victors through his impressive performances. Both Lamine and Pedri have also enjoyed noteworthy moments on the pitch, while Ferran’s experience has been mixed.

Undoubtedly, Cubarsi has been the standout player from Barcelona at the World Cup, playing a vital role in the Spanish defense and helping the team achieve five clean sheets.

Meanwhile, before Laporta embarks on his potential visit, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has been in the United States, following the club’s players throughout the tournament.

The former midfielder was present to witness Spain’s triumph over Portugal, closely observing the performances of the squad’s international representatives.

It is anticipated that Deco will return to Barcelona before Laporta travels to the US, should Spain succeed in reaching the semi-finals.
