Leeds game was missed…

Norwich City defender Ruairi McConville acknowledged that the team fell short of their potential in their 3-0 FA Cup loss to Leeds United.

The Premier League side Leeds proved too strong at Elland Road, advancing to the sixth round with goals from Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson, and Joel Piroe.

McConville stated, “We had been performing well and felt positive going into the match—excited about the opportunity. Unfortunately, we conceded two easy goals in the first half that we shouldn’t have allowed. We fought hard in the second half but ultimately came up short.”

“This is a missed opportunity; Leeds are a strong side and they made us pay. It’s something we’ll reflect on and learn from,” he added. “We possess a lot of quality in our squad and knew we had a chance for a positive result, but it didn’t materialize.”

Reflecting on the presence of VAR, McConville remarked, “It felt strange to experience it again. There’s a lot of waiting involved, but it’s clearly the direction the game is heading, so we have to adapt.”

Norwich City is set to resume league play on Wednesday with a home fixture against Sheffield United at 19:45 GMT. “We still have responsibilities in the league, so it’s important to set this disappointment aside. We need to maintain our fitness because there’s still much at stake, and we must be prepared for what lies ahead,” McConville concluded.
