Liverpool has secured a €72 million agreement with Rennes for the acquisition of France U21 international centre-back Jérémy Jacquet, 20, as reported by RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. The highly-rated defender will join Liverpool in the summer but will continue to play for Rennes on loan to finish the current Ligue 1 season.
The agreement marks a record-breaking transfer for Rennes, surpassing their previous highest sale of €64 million for Jérémy Doku to Manchester City in 2024. As noted by Fabrizio Romano, Jacquet has also finalized personal terms with Liverpool under manager Arne Slot.

Upon joining Liverpool, Jacquet may have the opportunity to reunite with fellow French players Hugo Ekitike and Ibrahima Konaté. As Konaté’s contract expires next June, Jacquet could potentially succeed him in the squad.
