Liverpool and Barcelona…

Liverpool and Barcelona are reportedly interested in acquiring Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven, as per De Telegraaf.

The Reds are seeking a new centre-back following the departure of Ibrahima Konate to Real Madrid. Although they showed interest in Jan Paul van Hecke, he has chosen to join Spurs instead.

Barcelona is also looking to strengthen their defensive options, having previously shown interest in Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni.

Tottenham is under no immediate pressure to sell Van de Ven, who has three years left on his contract. However, moving him this summer could yield a significant profit, especially if he does not sign an extension.

The club has already reinforced its defensive lineup by signing Van Hecke and Marcos Senesi, which could allow them to consider offers for Van de Ven.

The Netherlands international has distinguished himself as one of the top centre-backs in the Premier League, despite Tottenham’s recent struggles.

He showcases strength in duels, possesses excellent game-reading abilities, and carries the ball with skill. Notably, he holds the record for the longest ball carry ending in a goal in Champions League history.

Additionally, Van de Ven adds an attacking dimension, having scored four league goals last season. He has also addressed previous injury concerns, having missed only one game through injury last term, alleviating fitness worries.

His pace aligns well with Barcelona’s high defensive line, making him a potential key partner for Pau Cubarsi.
