Liverpool head coach…

One of the Premier League’s leading managers has severed ties with associates at Liverpool, effectively diminishing any prospects of a future move to Anfield.

According to a report from The i Paper, Eddie Howe has “burned bridges” with friends at Liverpool. The Newcastle United manager has had a long-standing relationship with key figures such as Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, the CEO of football at FSG and Liverpool’s sporting director, respectively.

These connections trace back to the early 2000s when they were all part of the team at Portsmouth. However, Liverpool’s aggressive pursuit of Alexander Isak last summer has seemingly strained these relationships.

The Reds were relentless in their efforts, often using media pressure to intensify the situation for Howe and Newcastle. Isak’s subsequent strike added to the complications, resulting in a tumultuous transfer saga that ultimately yielded no positive outcomes for any party involved.

Additionally, this fallout appears to have ruled Howe out of consideration for the LFC head coach role in the near future. His ongoing struggles with Newcastle this season further diminish his chances, even though he was briefly considered for the position before Arne Slot took charge.

While Howe seemed a plausible candidate back in 2024 due to his established connections, it now appears that a potential move to Liverpool is completely off the table should the club consider a change in head coach anytime soon.
