Liverpool Receives Update on Smit Ahead of Summer Transfer
Following reports during the January transfer window suggesting that 20-year-old Smit is on Liverpool’s radar, more updates have emerged concerning the situation.
It is estimated that a fee of around €50 million (approximately £43.5 million) would be necessary to secure Smit’s transfer this summer. However, Liverpool faces competition as other clubs also express interest, potentially sparking a bidding war.
According to a recent report by Christian Falk from Germany, Liverpool, along with Real Madrid and Arsenal, is currently at the forefront of the chase for the talented midfielder.
In his report, Falk noted that Bayern Munich is not actively pursuing Smit, identifying Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Arsenal as the frontrunners for his signature.
This season, Slot’s midfield has often appeared understrength, and with Wataru Endo and Curtis Jones entering the final 18 months of their contracts, adding a new face to the midfield could be beneficial.
Despite his youth, Smit is already a regular starter for AZ Alkmaar, and signing him would align with Liverpool’s recent focus on recruiting top young talents in key positions.
