Liverpool is looking to bolster their squad by adding more homegrown players. Currently, they have filled their non-homegrown limit of 17 players, leaving potential for growth in the homegrown department.

A great way to achieve this would be to re-sign former academy talents who showcased their skills but, for various reasons, didn’t make the cut at the club, only to thrive elsewhere.

One standout target is Harry Wilson.

The ex-Liverpool academy star has recorded 16 goal contributions in his last 19 matches for both club and country, making him one of the most in-form attackers in the Premier League.

His recent performances have included some sensational goals, reminiscent of Philippe Coutinho’s playing style.

It’s wonderful to witness him finally showcasing the special talent that was evident during his academy days.

Wilson excelled at the Under-18 and Under-21 levels for Liverpool, dominating the competition and demonstrating his ability during several loan stints.

However, he managed only a handful of first-team appearances, primarily due to the presence of Mo Salah in his position.

Now, as a more seasoned player, he is ready for a challenge and is undoubtedly capable of contributing to a club like Liverpool.

As his current contract runs until June 30th, he is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season, allowing Liverpool the opportunity to sign him without a transfer fee.

Wilson has yet to sign an extension with Fulham, so this presents an opening for Liverpool to take action. However, they must act swiftly, as The Telegraph has reported that Aston Villa is also interested in acquiring him.

Given his quality and history as a Liverpool academy product, this move would be particularly sensible, especially considering Liverpool’s need for more attacking depth and Wilson’s ability to play in multiple positions.

In many respects, he embodies what Liverpool needs right now, making this potential transfer a clear and beneficial choice.
