Clearly, Liverpool’s top priority is to secure Dominik Szoboszlai’s future with a new contract, extending beyond his current deal that runs until 2028.
Additionally, the club needs to enhance its squad depth by bringing in more players who possess similar qualities to Szoboszlai.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool is exploring a potential recruitment of Lucas Bergvall from Tottenham.
At just 20 years old, Bergvall has already made over 70 appearances for Tottenham and was previously noted by the club during his breakout at Djurgårdens in Sweden.
What makes Bergvall comparable to Szoboszlai, and possibly his successor, is his versatility as a quick and highly skilled midfielder.
Just like Szoboszlai, who operated not only as a midfielder but also as an attacking player and winger at Red Bull Salzburg, Bergvall can adapt to various roles on the pitch.
His ability to play in multiple positions makes him a valuable asset. This season, Bergvall has taken on roles as a left-sided and right-sided midfielder, even functioning effectively as a wing-back, while also excelling in deeper and more advanced midfield positions.
This adaptability is what makes him an excellent option for Liverpool’s squad, and at his young age, he still has tremendous potential for growth.
While Tottenham will be hesitant to part ways with him, they may have to consider selling given the challenges they’ve faced this season.
