Livingston’s manager, David Martindale, expressed greater disappointment over the 3-1 home defeat to Dundee United than any other match this season.

“I felt we didn’t start the game well and conceded a very poor first goal,” he told BBC Scotland.

“This might be our worst performance of the season, especially at home.”

“We’ve generally been competitive at home, but we didn’t manage that tonight.”

“After the first goal went in, we seemed to sulk and accepted our fate.”

“I genuinely believe we were fortunate to reach half-time at just 1-0; it could have been worse.”

“We had a few scoring opportunities, but they were minimal, and we didn’t string together any significant sequences of play. Our game was very fragmented.”

“The goals we conceded were easily avoidable, and that’s what makes this result even more disappointing.”

“To win a game, you need to establish yourself in it, and we failed to do that.”

When asked about how he plans to motivate his players ahead of their upcoming match against Hearts, Martindale remarked: “We’ll meet tomorrow to analyze it.”

“The longer you endure a poor run, the more you lean on performances to help you through. While there have been positives in some recent games, tonight was missing a lot.”

“For the first time, I feel I can genuinely question that group of players.”
