Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is anticipated to be excluded when Thomas Tuchel announces his 26-man England squad this Friday for the upcoming World Cup.

The 33-year-old expressed his disappointment, stating he is “shocked and gutted” by the decision.

Maguire had previously been included in Tuchel’s squad in March, ahead of friendly matches against Japan and Uruguay.

In an Instagram post, Maguire commented: “I believed I could have played a significant role this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I am left shocked and gutted by the decision.”

“Nothing has meant more to me than wearing that shirt and representing my country throughout the years.”

Additionally, Maguire’s Manchester United teammate Luke Shaw is also expected to be left out despite his strong performance this season.

Shaw was included in Tuchel’s provisional 55-man squad, and there had been calls for his selection.

However, with Newcastle’s Dan Burn and Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly likely being called up, it seems Shaw will not make the cut.
