Man United transfer…

Manchester United keeper Andre Onana is nearing a loan move back to Turkish club Trabzonspor.

A final agreement has not been reached, but sources say it is around 90% complete. The deal will not include a purchase option.

Onana played 29 times for Trabzonspor last season after being sent out on loan by United following their shock EFL Cup exit to League Two Grimsby last August. That penalty shootout defeat at Blundell Park was his only appearance for United that campaign.

He capped the season by helping Trabzonspor win the Turkish Cup for the first time since 2020.

Signed from Inter Milan for £47.2m in 2023, Onana has two years left on his United contract and had been due to report for pre-season on 9 July.

However, the 30-year-old accepted he would not dislodge Senne Lammens as head coach Michael Carrick’s first choice.

With Lammens away with Belgium at the World Cup, the future of United’s number two, Altay Bayindir, uncertain, and promising youngster Radek Vitek hoping to secure a move before pre-season starts, Carrick could be left with a group of inexperienced goalkeepers plus veteran Tom Heaton for the opener against Wrexham in Helsinki on 17 July.
