Manchester City to Compete…

New reports suggest that Manchester City are entering the race to sign Club Tijuana prodigy Gilberto Mora, going up against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The 17-year-old talent has made his way up through the youth system of the renowned Mexican club, making his first-team debut in 2024 and accumulating 41 appearances for the team he has supported since childhood.

During this time, Mora has scored seven goals and provided two assists, which earned him a senior call-up to the Mexican national team, where he made his debut.

The attacking midfielder showcased his skills at the U-20 World Cup, contributing significantly as Mexico reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by Argentina. Throughout the tournament, he had an impressive five goal contributions in five matches, scoring three goals and assisting twice.

With his swift rise in the sport, it is no wonder that several top European clubs are eyeing the young star, including Manchester City, as they compete with Premier League rivals for his signature.

This information comes from the Wednesday edition of Sport, as reported by Sport Witness. The reports indicate that Arsenal, Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are all interested in acquiring Gilberto Mora.

Furthermore, the report concludes that Barcelona officials Joan Laporta and Deco will be kept updated on the player’s status, describing him as an “ambidextrous player with exceptional technique, goal-scoring ability, and outstanding vision,” noting that “the game has only just begun.”

The young midfielder is represented by Rafaela Pimenta, who has a strong relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and also manages the contracts of Manchester City’s star player Erling Haaland.

Alongside the aforementioned clubs, David Beckham’s Inter Miami is also reportedly interested in Mora. However, if he were to sign with a European team, a move wouldn’t be possible until he reaches 18 in 2026.

Mora is not in a rush to make a decision, which may give Barcelona an edge due to their current financial situation, preventing them from competing with other clubs willing to pay higher transfer fees.
