Telegraph Sport reports that Roberto Mancini, the former coach of Italy and Manchester City, is a leading candidate for the Nottingham Forest position following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.

The announcement came shortly after Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 defeat at home to Chelsea, managed by Enzo Maresca, in the Premier League.

Postecoglou’s tenure lasted only 39 days after he succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo on September 9.

According to the Telegraph Sport, Mancini is considered a serious contender for the role, alongside Sean Dyche, a viewpoint echoed by The Athletic.

Earlier today, it was reported that Mancini had expressed to friends his interest in the Manchester United role should they decide to part ways with the under-pressure Ruben Amorim.

Now, he finds himself linked with another Premier League club, one that features several former Serie A players, including Dan Ndoye, Nikola Milenkovic, Douglas Luiz, and Nicolò Savona.

Turning 61 next month, Mancini is well-remembered for leading Manchester City to a Premier League title in 2012. His coaching career also includes stints at Inter, Galatasaray, Zenit St. Petersburg, and overseeing the Italy national team from 2018 to 2023, before taking charge of Saudi Arabia.

His latest position ended in October 2024 when he was dismissed from the Saudi national team.
