Mason Mount Injury Update:…

Ruben Amorim has shared that Mason Mount reported feeling discomfort at halftime. Consequently, Manchester United opted not to risk him in the second half after he was substituted during the recent Premier League match against Newcastle.

Mount initially lined up alongside Matheus Cunha behind Benjamin Sesko at Old Trafford, with United already dealing with the absence of their injured captain Bruno Fernandes, along with Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, who are currently participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.

He was substituted at halftime for 18-year-old Jack Fletcher, the son of former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher, as United managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory, marking their first home win at Old Trafford in two months.

Amorim noted that it was a “good sign” that Mount was eager to continue playing but emphasized the need to be cautious regarding the attacking midfielder’s fitness, especially with United’s current injury woes ahead of their upcoming match against Wolves on Tuesday, December 30. “He felt something at halftime and wanted to play in the second half, but we can’t afford to lose more players,” Amorim stated to Sky Sports, following United’s hard-fought performance that elevated them to fifth place in the Premier League.
