Rarely has a Real Madrid manager wielded as much influence over new signings as Jose Mourinho does now.
The club’s president, Florentino Perez, and his team have complete confidence in Mourinho due to his track record and experience, granting him the authority to oversee Real Madrid’s transfer strategy.

As part of his vision, the coach has already reshaped the squad to suit his preferences, making significant improvements to the defense. However, he continues to push for new additions in the midfield area.
A Former Disciple in Focus
According to reports from Defensa Central, the Real Madrid manager has identified Scott McTominay, the midfielder from Napoli, as a potential target.

Having previously collaborated with Mourinho at Manchester United, McTominay is a player the manager holds in high regard and has expressed his admiration to the club’s leadership.

Despite Mourinho’s interest, Real Madrid has not yet made an official approach for McTominay. Given their trust in Mourinho, it’s unlikely they will shy away from pursuing the former Manchester United player.
Financial Outlook
Real Madrid has been connected with several high-profile midfielders in recent months, including Joao Neves, Vitinha, and Rodri. However, all of these players are internationally sought after and come with substantial price tags.
In contrast, McTominay is less likely to attract interest from top clubs, potentially making him available for a reasonable fee of around €40 million.

With the club aiming for a significant defensive acquisition and navigating a complex midfield exit strategy, McTominay could prove to be an ideal candidate for Los Blancos.
However, progress on any transfer will depend on the club’s ability to facilitate a substantial departure from the midfield, particularly considering the links to Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Federico Valverde, with Camavinga being the most likely to exit.
Last season, the Scottish international made 33 league appearances, starting 31 of those, tallying ten goals and three assists. He also averaged 3.1 shots and 0.7 key passes per game.
