Mourinho Eager to Return

According to journalist Joaquin Maroto (via Ramon Alvarez), Mourinho is ‘eager’ to make a return to Real Madrid this summer and has expressed his desire to the club.

The 63-year-old coach previously enjoyed a three-year tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu from 2010 to 2013, securing three trophies during his time.

Following his exit, Mourinho has maintained a strong connection with club president Florentino Perez, who is actively considering the possibility of bringing Mourinho back.

A Major Obstacle

However, there is a significant obstacle regarding Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid.

The ex-Real Madrid manager reportedly has a release clause of €6 million in his current contract with Benfica, which Los Blancos would have to pay to secure his return.

According to sources, Real Madrid is hesitant to spend more money than they did to sign Xabi Alonso last summer to bring Mourinho back.

While personal agreements may not pose an issue, this release clause represents a considerable challenge for Mourinho in his aspirations to return to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen how Real Madrid will navigate their search for a new manager to succeed Arbeloa ahead of the upcoming season.
