As reported by AS, via CalcioMercato, José Mourinho is seeking an additional top-tier center-back despite an already active summer transfer period at the Bernabeu, where Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella, and Denzel Dumfries have joined the squad, with Dumfries being acquired from Inter.

The Portuguese manager is undertaking a significant defensive overhaul, and reports suggest that Bastoni is the player he desires most.

Madrid Revisits Bastoni after Schlotterbeck Deal Stalls
Real Madrid had initially targeted Nico Schlotterbeck as their last defensive signing. However, with that move now in limbo, they’ve redirected their focus back to Bastoni, who was previously linked with them earlier in the transfer window as Inter faced challenges at the end of last season.

Now, according to AS, the Italy international is once again a primary candidate on Mourinho’s list.
Nonetheless, Inter is determined not to let him go lightly. Just as they previously rejected Barcelona’s earlier approach, the Nerazzurri will not entertain negotiations for the defender unless an amount of €70 million is met.
The key question now is whether Madrid will be willing to meet that demand after their substantial recent expenditures.
