José Mourinho has stated that he will not impose any conditions for continuing at Benfica next season, noting that his future is reliant on the club’s preferences.
The Portuguese manager, who returned to Benfica in September, signed a contract that extends until June 2027.
However, the agreement includes a clause that permits either Mourinho or the club to terminate the contract in May.
“Ultimately, it comes down to the wishes of the club,” Mourinho, 63, expressed after securing a 2-0 league victory against Nacional on Sunday.
“My wish to stay at Benfica is not contingent on any external factors; it doesn’t hinge on team investments.”
Mourinho’s illustrious career has garnered him 26 major trophies during his tenures with clubs like FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Roma.
Benfica forward Vangelis Pavlidis expressed his desire to continue playing under Mourinho’s management.

“The Special One!” Pavlidis remarked, referencing Mourinho’s famous nickname. “There’s little else to say about him. He has an immense passion for football; he truly loves the game and his players, and he is always straightforward. He possesses an exceptional understanding of football and how to effectively manage teams.”
“His career achievements speak volumes; he stands apart as one of the best managers in the world.”
Currently, Benfica holds the third position in the Primeira Liga, trailing league leaders FC Porto by seven points with five matches left to play.
