Napoli have appointed Massimiliano Allegri as their new head coach on a deal running until June 2029.
The 58-year-old succeeds Antonio Conte, who departed at the end of May after two seasons, having led Napoli to the 2024-25 Serie A title and then a runners-up finish last season.
Allegri, dismissed by Milan at the end of last season, returns to a club where he had a brief playing spell in 1997-98.
Napoli had awaited the resolution of Allegri’s contract termination with Milan before finalizing the appointment.
One of Italy’s most successful managers, Allegri won the 2010-11 Serie A title with Milan before an illustrious first stint at Juventus.
From 2014 to 2019 he oversaw five consecutive league triumphs with Juve, four Coppa Italia titles in a row, two Italian Super Cups, and reached the Champions League finals in 2015 and 2017.
He returned to Juventus in 2021, claimed a fifth Coppa Italia in 2024, and subsequently took charge of Milan again for the 2025-26 season.
