Piet Cremers leaves Wales…

Three months after the Dutchman joined as Wales’ assistant, BBC Sport Wales’ Dafydd Pritchard assessed just how crucial Cremers is to Bellamy:

With four years spent as an analyst under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, it’s clear why Cremers is Bellamy’s first point of contact during Wales games.

Bellamy patrols the touchline with the same intensity he had as a player and, whenever he darts back to the bench, it’s usually to confer with Cremers and check his screen.

Together they assess the match live, use replays to clarify what they’ve seen, and process data to decide how to adjust and what to do next.

Although this is Bellamy’s first senior managerial post, his working relationship with Cremers was already well established from their time on Vincent Kompany’s Burnley staff.

Asked what Cremers brings to his Wales setup, Bellamy’s response was simple: “Everything.”

Under their guidance, Burnley surged to the 2023 Championship title and, while they spent only one season in the Premier League, their achievements—and the distinct playing style behind them—helped convince Bayern Munich to appoint Kompany.

So when Bellamy took charge of Wales and began assembling his backroom team, calling Cremers was inevitable.
