Newcastle United and Reims have come to an agreement to sign goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen.
Jaouen is set to join the Magpies for €28.5 million and has accepted a four-year contract with the club. This makes him Newcastle’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

As reported by journalist Florian Plettenberg, the club sees him as a long-term investment and does not expect him to immediately take over as the first-choice goalkeeper.
The 20-year-old prospect started his journey at Reims in 2023 as an academy player, having been loaned twice before securing his position as the starting goalkeeper for the French team.
Jaouen has stood out for his remarkable shot-stopping skills, achieving 15 clean sheets in 34 appearances in Ligue 2 last season.
He was also linked with Chelsea, but that possibility has been ruled out as they have no plans to sign a goalkeeper this summer.
Newcastle is looking to overhaul their goalkeeping lineup and are considering selling Nick Pope, who faced difficulties last season. Ipswich Town and Leeds United are monitoring his situation.
Potential replacements for Pope include ‘James Trafford, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Bart Verbruggen, and Lens’ Robin Risser, who have all been considered as possible targets.
Furthermore, Newcastle is expected to bring in a left winger following Anthony Gordon’s transfer to Barcelona.
After finishing outside the European qualification spots last season, Newcastle aims to strengthen its squad to avoid a repeat performance in the upcoming term.
