Newtonmore Triumphs in…

Newtonmore continued their impressive start to the Mowi Premiership season with a 1-0 derby win against Kingussie, marking their fourth consecutive victory.

Amid significant waterlogging conditions on Saturday, Declan Brannan found the net just three minutes into the match. However, the rest of the much-anticipated encounter failed to yield any additional goals.

This victory propels Newtonmore four points ahead of Fort William, although they have played two more games. Kingussie, on the other hand, has slipped to fourth place based on goal difference.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted Lochaber’s early momentum has stalled following their impressive 4-0 win against Kyles on opening day. They suffered their third consecutive defeat by falling 2-1 to Caberfeidh, who secured their first points of the season.

Ewan Campbell put Caberfeidh ahead within the first two minutes, and Gavin McLaughlin added another goal midway through the first half. Stuart Callison managed to score for Lochaber after the break, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

In the National Division, leaders Glenurquhart and relegated Lovat battled to a 2-2 draw in Kiltarlity.

Charlie Macleod got Glenurquhart off to a strong start with a first-half goal, but Lovat turned things around in the second half with goals from Lewis Tawse and Marc MacLaughlan. With just five minutes left, Macleod netted his second to equalize for Glenurquhart, leaving both teams unbeaten. Despite the draw, Glenurquhart retains a two-point lead at the top due to having played an extra match.
