Nico Williams Injury May…

Spain forward Nico Williams was substituted before halftime during Athletic Club‘s 1-0 defeat to Valencia at home on Sunday, raising concerns ahead of the World Cup.

Williams appeared to sustain a hamstring injury and was replaced by his brother Iñaki Williams in the 37th minute at San Mamés Stadium.

Nico Williams had previously missed several weeks earlier this year due to another injury.

Athletic Club has not yet released details regarding the injury suffered on Sunday.

“He was limping quite a bit. He hadn’t experienced that level of pain before,” stated Iñaki Williams. “It’s worrying given the timing. Let’s hope for the best outcome.”

The 23-year-old Nico Williams has been a consistent presence in Spain’s squad, playing alongside Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, who is also currently injured.

Spain manager Luis de La Fuente is expected to announce a preliminary list of 55 players for the World Cup on Monday. La Roja has been drawn in Group H with Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay for the upcoming 48-team tournament hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico this summer.
