Leeds United have reached their first FA Cup semi-final in nearly four decades, achieving a thrilling victory over West Ham United in a penalty shootout.
Despite leading 2-0, Leeds saw their advantage slip away as they conceded two goals in stoppage time, pushing the match into extra time. Ultimately, Daniel Farke’s team triumphed 4-2 in the penalty shootout.

Both teams are also fighting for survival in the Premier League, and former Leeds defender Jon Newsome remarked, “Leeds coming here and winning the game puts a massive dent in West Ham’s confidence.”
Kaiser Chiefs bassist Simon Rix shared his perspective on the experience of attending an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, stating that it’s less stressful compared to previous visits, like the Championship play-off final in 2024, which Leeds lost to Southampton.
“Attending Wembley for a play-off final is highly stressful due to the stakes involved,” he explained. “In contrast, we can approach this semi-final at Wembley with a focus on enjoyment. Winning is the goal, but even if we don’t come out on top, it won’t be disastrous. Hopefully, we can just enjoy the day.”

Newsome added, “The team will embrace this experience with excitement and joy. It promises to be a fantastic day out. If they don’t make it to the final, there may be disappointment, but it won’t define the season.”
