Marten De Roon has made a permanent move to Roma from Atalanta and will don the No. 15 jersey at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Dutch midfielder’s transfer to Roma has been officially confirmed by the Giallorossi in a statement released on Sunday evening.

De Roon’s Transfer to Roma: Official Statement
“AS Roma is thrilled to announce the signing of Marten De Roon from Atalanta on a permanent deal,” stated the Giallorossi in their announcement.
“De Roon has made 445 appearances for his former club, scoring 23 goals.
“He has also represented the Netherlands 44 times, participating in the World Cup in both 2022 and 2026.
“De Roon will wear the number 15 shirt.”

“Welcome to Roma, Marten!”
After a decade at Atalanta, De Roon reunites with his former coach Gian Piero Gasperini in Roma.
Gasperini left Atalanta in 2025; however, De Roon stayed on for the 2025-26 season with coaches Ivan Juric and Raffaele Palladino.
Atalanta has strengthened its midfield this summer by signing Gianluca Gaetano and Franck Kessié, while Roma is preparing to send El Aynaoui on a loan deal to RB Leipzig with an option to buy.

Throughout his 445 appearances for Atalanta, De Roon scored 23 goals and provided 32 assists, playing a pivotal role in the club’s historic Europa League victory during the 2023-24 season.
Roma will face Lecce tomorrow, Monday, August 31, in Serie A Round 2, after starting the season with a resounding 4-0 win against Fiorentina at home.
