The Brazilian Football Association has announced that Atalanta midfielder Ederson will step in for the injured Wesley, a right-back from Roma, in the squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Wesley will miss the tournament due to an injury sustained during a friendly against Egypt on Saturday.
According to the Brazilian FA, an MRI scan revealed that Wesley has an adductor muscle injury in his left thigh.
Ederson, who is set to join Manchester United for €45 million, will replace him. The Brazilian FA confirmed that Ederson will meet up with the team in the United States on Monday.
Under the management of Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil is placed in Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland.
