Juventus is looking to offload the underwhelming Lois Openda. Following an approach from Coventry City, his former club RC Lens is keen to re-sign him, but there’s a major hurdle to overcome.
The Belgium international turned out to be a costly mistake after being signed from RB Leipzig on loan for €3.25 million, with an obligation to buy for an additional €42.75 million plus bonuses at the season’s end.

Had the transfer been a mere option rather than an obligation, the Bianconeri likely would not have finalized the deal after he managed only two goals in 34 competitive appearances.

Currently, Juventus is searching for a club willing to take Openda off their hands, with reports from Footmercato in France indicating RC Lens as a potential destination.
During the 2022-2023 season with RC Lens, Openda showcased his skills, netting 21 goals and providing four assists in 38 matches, which led to his immediate €40 million transfer to RB Leipzig.

RC Lens hopes to bring him back on loan, but sources suggest that Juventus would need to cover a significant portion of his salary to make the transfer feasible.
In contrast to Juventus, RC Lens has qualified for this season’s Champions League, offering Openda the opportunity for regular play at the highest level.
