Spanish football analyst Juan Castro believes that Bournemouth has made a smart move by signing Alvaro Rodriguez, who has the potential to score “a lot of goals,” but he will need to “develop and improve” to thrive in the Premier League.
The Cherries have secured a £27.5m deal for the 21-year-old forward, who netted seven goals during his last season with Elche.
According to Castro, “While he may not be a superstar in the Spanish league, he is a striker capable of delivering numerous goals for Bournemouth.” He added, “Fans can expect a lot of determination and scoring opportunities from him. He has the versatility to fit into the system and substitute any player. However, he must elevate his game from his performances in La Liga.”
“To find success in the Premier League, he needs to continue progressing. He initially showed promise at Real Madrid, then at Getafe, and most recently with Elche. In my view, he must advance if he hopes to succeed in the Premier League.”
Castro highlighted, “He is exceptional in heading the ball and also adept at creating space for himself within the penalty area. He possesses the necessary selfishness to maneuver between defenders in the box to score goals, although he is particularly recognized as a strong header.”
Additionally, first-team coaches Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper have departed the club to join Liverpool.
Commenting on their exits, former Cherries defender Warren Cummings expressed, “It’s an incredible opportunity for both of them and reflects Andoni’s confidence in their abilities. I’m thrilled for them, and this is a move they simply couldn’t refuse.”
