Manchester United secured a 1-0 victory at home against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Friday.

United began the match with strong momentum, as Patrick Dorgu set up a chance for Benjamin Sesko, who unfortunately missed the opportunity.

Just 23 minutes in, Dorgu found the net with a volley, marking his first goal in the Premier League and putting United ahead.

The Denmark international had a chance to extend the lead, but Newcastle’s goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was able to make a crucial save.

Newcastle dominated possession towards the end of the first half, yet United’s goalkeeper, Senne Lammens, remained largely untested before the interval.

At halftime, teenager Jack Fletcher came on to replace Mason Mount for United.

Newcastle started the second half aggressively and nearly equalized when Fabian Schar’s shot from the back post was deflected for a corner.

At the other end, Sesko struck the woodwork, followed shortly by Lewis Hall doing the same for the visitors.

Anthony Gordon had a chance from a tight angle but was unable to find the target.

Diogo Dalot missed a significant opportunity to increase United’s lead, finding himself one-on-one with Ramsdale but sending the ball over the bar.

Gordon had another attempt go astray when he fired wide.

Newcastle ramped up the pressure as the match continued, but United managed to hold on for the win.

With this result, United has risen to fifth place in the league, now level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea.
